Grethe Meyer’s iconic faience dinnerware Blåkant

Most people know the beautiful classic dinnerware with the little blue line; the series Blåkant from 1965, which in 2020 is being relaunched by BODUM under the name BLÅ – produced in porcelain, as it was once intended by Grethe Meyer. A very pure and simple dinnerware, which had great significance for its time and came to define a period in which the good life was democratized, and of the women in particular, who gained their entry into the labor market. With the series, Grethe Meyer wanted to create a beautiful and functional design that should not only be for the few, but make life easier for everyone – including the working women. It was a creative process that broke with the boundaries of conventional design and gave birth to a new minimalist expression.
