The first collaboration between Grethe Meyer and Royal Copenhagen attracted considerable attention when the simple and timeless faience dinnerware Blue Line was presented in 1965.

Grethe Meyer had originally intended to work in porcelain, but Royal Copenhagen insisted on faience and Grethe Meyer succeeded in converting her designs accordingly.

The dinnerware was greyed with an elegant blue line as sole decoration, multifunctional and space saving, as the components were stackable. Grethe Meyer came up with the name Blue Line herself and this dinnerware marked her big breakthrough as a designer, winning prizes and becoming one of Royal Copenhagen’s top sellers.

Blue Line was in production at Royal Copenhagen from 1965-2011.
