BOLIGENS BYGGESKABE STORAGE SYSTEM
IN COLLABORATION WITH BØRGE MOGENSEN

During the 1950s Grethe Meyer, in close collaboration with friend and architect Børge Mogensen, developed the groundbreaking and bestselling modular storage system Boligens Byggeskabe / The Solid Cabinet System.

This flexible modular furniture was created by closely analysing and observing the dimensions of contemporary houses and measuring every item a typical family would need to store.

The system took years of careful development in collaboration with manufacturer C.M. Madsen and furniture dealer Curt Danel and was presented in 1959. It was in production until the 1980s.

Many years later Grethe Meyer, in her acceptance speech when receiving the Danish Design Award, would elaborate on this in acknowledging the importance of this very special collaboration.
